Transportation and Erection/ Erection using a F/C

The maximum weight of the block was limited to 3000 tonf When the 3000 tonf F/C was used for erection. Each block was assembled at the shop. Two deck barges were specially fabricated to secure safety during the transport and comply with the size of the large block. Two blocks were transported from the shop to the site at the same time to save construction time.

The stiffening truss is divided into 8 blocks. The blocks were numbered as G1 to G8 from west to east. The erection order of the blocks was G2¡æG7¡æG1¡æG8¡æG3¡æG6¡æG5¡æG4. To stabilize the towers, the blocks close to the towers were first erected. After that, two end blocks were erected to prepare for cable erection and approach truss erection. The G4 block was erected last after all other blocks were erected.

Because the closing block G4 is at the center of the stiffening truss, it needs to be inserted between the erected blocks. To secure enough room for insertion, one side of erected blocks was set back about 200 mm using hydraulic jacks. After insertion, the blocks were returned to the exact position. The top of the temporary supports was designed to allow set back and returning.
