Most of the pier foundations were cast-in-place concrete piles constructed by the RCD(Reverse Circulation Method) method. The rest of the pier foundations was spread foundation type. For the pier of the truss bridge, 40 to 60 concrete piles were constructed using the steel casing with the diameter of 1,500 mm (t=12mm). The steel casing of which the length was about 30m were driven into the soft rock. For the pier of the steel box bridge, 29 to 78 cast-in-place concrete piles were erected using the 1,000mm steel casing. As the temporary cofferdam to build foundations, the steel sheet pile cofferdam and the steel caisson cofferdam were erected.
In the steel sheet pile cofferdam construction, sheet piles(dia. = 800mm) were driven around the guide frame and the gaps between the sheet piles was filled with grout. In the steel caisson cofferdam, the skin plates were attached to the frame for the cofferdam and underwater concrete was cast at the bottom of the cofferdam to cut off water.
