Substructure/ Introduction

After considering site environments, the Pneumatic caisson method which did not require a temporary cofferdam was used to construct foundations of main towers. For piers of the truss bridge and the steel box girder bridge, Cast-in-place concrete piles with diameter of 1500mm and 1000mm were used in combination with temporary cofferdam. Depending on the sites, steel pipe sheet pile method, steel caisson cofferdam method, sheet pile method was used to construct the cofferdam.

   sulfur-resisting cement

Concrete of main towers and piers was cast using a batcher plant(B/P) ship. For some expansive foundations, a pipe-cooling system was employed to regulate the heat of hydration. To prevent damage of concrete by salt, sulfur resting cement and salt proof coating was applied.
