In the vibration tests, the suspension bridge was
vibrated by two vibrators to investigate the vibration
characteristics of the actual bridges.
The measured characteristics such as natural frequencies,
vibration modes, and logarithmic damping ratios
were compared with design values.
The vibrator has the center weight of 20tonf to
generate the vibration. Two vibrators generated
flexural and torsional vibrations of the bridge.
The test was conducted after the pavement.
The results showed that the measured flexural and
torsional stiffness of the bridge were greater than
the calculated ones.The damping ratios of the actual
bridge were also greater than the design standard.
